Ms. Karla De La Torre grew up in San Jose, California and graduated from Santa Clara University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Spanish and Religious Studies. After graduating from SCU, Ms. De La Torre taught English, Public Speaking, and Spanish at Sacred Heart Nativity Schools in downtown San Jose.

A Bronco at heart, Ms. De La Torre returned to her alma mater and earned her Juris Doctorate at Santa Clara University School of Law in 2014. During law school, she worked at Bay Area Legal Aid in the Domestic Violence Clinic. In addition, Ms. De La Torre was a law clerk at the Santa Clara District Attorney’s office in their Juvenile, Gang, and Narcotics Units. Throughout law school, Ms. De La Torre was awarded two grants, seven scholarships and awards, including the 2013 California Bar Foundation Public Interest Scholarship. In 2013 Ms. De La Torre was awarded the Santa Clara Law Public Interest and Social Justice Award for her contributions in the juvenile justice department of the District Attorney’s office where she specifically addressed the issues of the high numbers of minority youth in juvenile hall with the Disproportionate Minority Council. After successfully passing the California State Bar Exam in 2014, Ms. De La Torre worked as an associate attorney for a litigation firm in downtown San Jose where she gained valuable courtroom experience and discovered a passion for family law. Ms. De La Torre joined Hoover Krepelka, LLP as an associate attorney in January, 2017.

Ms. De La Torre is fluent in Spanish.

In her free time, Ms. De La Torre enjoys spending time with her teenage sister, running, dancing, practicing yoga, and cheering on her favorite sports team, the Golden State Warriors.
