Lana M. Shearer
Ms. Shearer has vast experience in assisting clients to navigate all aspects of their family law matter, including: asset and debt characterization, allocation and division; business valuations; establishment and enforcement of spousal support and child support; creating a parenting plan in the best interest of the children; post-judgment modifications; and child custody move-away cases.
Ms. Shearer, a native of Northern California, spent her childhood in Linden, California. She graduated with honors from CSU, Sacramento in 1992 and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1998.
Ms. Shearer’s experience includes the areas of family law, insurance defense, land use, employment, and workers’ compensation law. Finding her true passion was family law, Ms. Shearer decided to focus her legal practice on family law in 2012. She opened her own firm in Elk Grove, California, in 2014, where she concentrated in Family Law Mediation, Collaborative Divorce, and Divorce Litigation.
In 2016, she earned the prestigious status of Certified Family Law Specialist, honored by the State Bar of California. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. Ms. Shearer serves as a Judge Pro Tem for Sacramento County Family Court to help settle family law cases prior to going to trial.
In 2023, Ms. Shearer joined Hoover Krepelka, LLP as Of Counsel.
Ms. Shearer stays current with recent developments in family law litigation, mediation and collaborative divorce by attending numerous annual educational training and forums. Her expertise and collaborative approach will enable her to assist clients to become knowledgeable about the legal process and guiding legal principles; to feel empowered to make informed choices regarding settlement options; and, if litigation is necessary, to achieve a favorable outcome in their family law matters.
In her spare time, Ms. Shearer enjoys spending time with her two adult children as often as possible as well as outdoor activities such as hiking and paddle boarding with friends. International travel is a new passion now that her children are grown.
