Hoover Krepelka, LLP welcomes Kelly Wynne as the newest Associate Attorney

SILICON VALLEY, CA – July 22, 2024

We are excited to announce the addition of Kelly Wynne to our team as our newest Associate Attorney! Kelly brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to social justice to our team. She holds a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law, equipped with specialized certifications in Public Interest and Social Justice.

During her tenure as an Attorney, Kelly navigated complex legal landscapes with finesse, managing cases such as Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse Restraining Orders, and spearheading civil litigation strategies including depositions and mediations. Her experience as a Summer Law Clerk in 2020 at the County of Santa Cruz honed her skills in juvenile dependency cases, Adult Protective Services, and Behavioral Health Services, further enriching her practice.

 

Kelly’s commitment to excellence extends beyond her legal practice. In 2016, she achieved certifications as an Advanced Paralegal and in 2015, a Paralegal from North Carolina State University, enhancing her ability to provide thorough and effective representation. Her dedication to community service is evident through her role as a donor and volunteer, supporting initiatives that promote access to justice and equality. Kelly focuses on family law and estate planning, specializing in name and gender changes, divorce mediation, and estate management for LGBTQIA+ and polyamorous individuals and families.

Kelly also served as President of Santa Clara Law’s Social Justice Coalition from 2021-2022, demonstrating her leadership and unwavering commitment to social justice. She has two cats she rescued from outside a Domino’s pizza, adding a personal touch to her compassionate nature. In her leisure time, Kelly enjoys playing Magic the Gathering, engaging in Fortnite, and immersing herself in reading fiction.

Hoover Krepelka, LLP announces the appointment of Stephanie Huang as Senior Associate Attorney

SILICON VALLEY, CA – July 16, 2024

Ms. Huang’s practice focuses primarily on family law. She handles all aspects of high-asset dissolutions, including property characterization, child custody and support, and spousal support. She also drafts and negotiates cohabitation agreements and pre and post-nuptial agreements.

Ms. Huang has diverse experience to draw from, beginning in 2014 when she started her career serving in multiple capacities in the San Francisco Superior Court. Before and during law school, she was an extern in the ACCESS (self-help) Center and a judicial extern in the Unified Family Court. In 2018, she returned as a Legal Research Assistant for the court after receiving her Juris Doctorate from Golden Gate University, School of Law. Prior to joining Hoover Krepelka, LLP in November 2023, Ms. Huang worked alongside highly reputable private practitioners to settle ultra-high net worth cases involving private equity funds, hedge funds, angel investments, and privately held businesses.

Ms. Huang believes that conflict resolution and collaborative work results in the most favorable outcomes in difficult situations. She understands her clients are experiencing one of the most stressful times of their lives. To that end, she works individually with each client to identify their top priorities and goals to find a mutually beneficial resolution to their case. In her free time, Ms. Huang enjoys spending time with her family and senior Pomeranian/Maltese, Squirt. She also loves traveling and collecting uncommon houseplants.

Hoover Krepelka, LLP announces the appointment of Wendy Chao as Associate Attorney

SILICON VALLEY, CA – July 16, 2024

Ms. Chao is originally from Southern California. She eventually migrated northbound to attend the University of California, Davis to study Psychology and then spent four years working in the technology industry in San Francisco. She went on to pursue a legal career and enrolled at the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2020, where she was awarded the Donald B. King Class of 1958 Scholarship for a special interest and pursuit in family law studies.

In order to gain a deeper understanding of family law, Ms. Chao accepted a Law Clerk position at Hoover Krepelka, LLP during her last year of law school. After studying for and completing the July 2023 California state bar exam, Ms. Chao returned to work at the firm as a post-bar law clerk in fall 2023. Following her successful passing of the bar exam in November 2023, Ms. Chao was officially admitted to the California state bar and promoted to Associate Attorney at Hoover Krepelka, LLP.

Now that school is over, Ms. Chao is trying to figure out what her hobbies are and is currently learning how to rock climb and play tennis. While her stomach lining can still handle it, Ms. Chao is also an avid collector and lover of hot sauces.

With over a decade of experience as a litigation and trial attorney specializing in Family Law, Caycie Favier is dedicated to guiding families through challenging emotional periods. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and speech communications from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree in communication and culture with an emphasis in human rights from Trinity International University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of La Verne, College of Law.

Ms. Favier originally founded her own firm in 2011 and then has continued a career path dedicated to providing effective family law representation. She is frequently appointed to serve as Minor’s Counsel in Los Angeles County. Ms. Favier’s commitment lies in representing clients with experience, integrity and determination while fiercely protecting their rights. Ms. Favier is available to help individuals successfully prevail in court cases involving family law litigation. When not at work, Ms. Favier enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with her family and coaching her two children as soccer goalkeepers. She is fluent in French.

Hoover Krepelka, LLP announces the appointment of Constance L. Carpenter as Of Counsel

SILICON VALLEY, CA – January 3, 2023

Carpenter has been practicing family law in Santa Clara County for more than four decades. She has handled over 1,000 family law cases pertaining to divorce, property valuation and division, child custody and support, spousal support, same sex and blended family custody issues, and domestic violence. She has become the region’s preeminent expert in minor’s counsel cases where she is routinely appointed by the court to advocate for the best interest of children involved in contentious custody matters.

Carpenter is also a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children and has been a member of the National Lawyers Guild since 1972. She currently serves as Chair of the Domestic Violence Intervention Collaborative (DVIC) and has been named to the Northern California Super Lawyers List.

SILICON VALLEY, CA – May 25, 2022

We are pleased to announce that Julia P. McDowell, Partner, and Certified Family Law Specialist at Hoover Krepelka, LLP, has received the Silicon Valley Business Journal Women of Influence Award, 2022. This honor is annually bestowed upon select women leaders in Silicon Valley who have made a positive impact in their jobs and communities.

Ms. McDowell has vast family law litigation experience and has advocated for hundreds of clients facing complex family law matters.  In addition to practicing family law, Ms. McDowell also serves as a manager and onboarding specialist for the firm’s diverse team of 20 family law attorneys.

When she is not at work, Ms. McDowell and her husband oversee Demonstrate Love, a non-profit organization offering education and essential services for children in Malawi, Africa. 

 

Monica Nemec Hired at Hoover Krepelka

SILICON VALLEY, CA – June 9, 2021

Hoover Krepelka, LLP, Northern California’s largest law firm to exclusively specialize in family law, announced Monica Nemec joined the practice as Senior Associate. Nemec is one of the original proponents of efforts to designate a 3-digit phone number for mental health emergencies nationwide. She received her J.D. in 2013 from Golden Gate University School of Law and achieved the Witkin Award for excellence in trial advocacy. In 2017, she received her M.P.P. Degree from Vanderbilt University.
